Brakes, Rotors & Drums

Brake Pads

How often should I replace my brake pads?

As a general rule, you should get your brake pads replaced every 10,000 to 20,000 miles. However, your driving conditions and the quality of the brake pads can shorten this timeframe.

How do I know if my brakes need replacing?

Brakes are designed to squeal when they are ready to be replaced. If you hear grinding, it means your pads have worn down to the minimum and require immediate replacement.

Rotors

What is the average lifespan of a brake rotor?

Rotors have a longer lifespan. Its recommended to replace rotors every 50,000 and 70,000 miles to keep your brakes in peak health.

How do I know if my rotors are bad?

Worn or warped rotors can cause your steering wheel to pull to one side or vibrate the steering wheel at certain speeds.

Drum Brakes

What are drum brakes?

Drum brakes are another type of brake thats installed on specific makes and models. The brake pads for drum brakes are called brake shoes and encapsulated within the brake drums.

How often do drum brakes need replacing?

Drum brakes can last up to 100,000 to 150,000 miles. They last longer because hydraulic brake fluid flows through them for braking, keeping them lubricated.

How do I know if my brake drums are bad?

Bad brake drums have similar tell-tale signs as brake rotors. Bad drums can cause your car to shake, vibrate, or pull to one side while driving. It also has the same audible queues as brake pads such as squealing and grinding.
