Why do I need a brake system flush?
Your brake system includes brake lines filled with fluid that create the pressure your brakes need to bring your car to a stop. Overtime, the fluid will get old, contaminated, and need to be replaced. If left untreated, brake fluid can cause corrosion within your brake lines and cause your brakes to not work as they should.
What are signs of old brake fluid?
If you have noticed you brakes feeling spongy or if you have to press the brakes more than you have had in the past for the same amount of braking power, these might be a sign that you need to service your brake system.Â
In some cases, old fluid in your brake system can cause the ABS light to turn on. If your ABS light is on, your anti-lock brake system will be disabled. ABS helps your car maintain traction when you try to come to a full stop during emergency situtations.
How often should I change my brake fluid?
On average, brake fluid should be replaced every 2 years or 30,000 miles. However, your driving pattern can extend or shorten the lifespan of your brake system. It is good practice to shedule factory maintenance schedule or inspect your vehicle with Drive Nation Service prior to service.
